I’m sure a lot of people will let you know: the Moon is not 7 light-seconds away. More like a second and a quarter. Seven light-seconds is about 1.3 million miles. Could be that his mothership is in a wide halo orbit around the Sun-Earth L2 point.
And–this isn’t nitpicking, it’s fighting against a harmful myth–Howard Dean was not yelling in a weird way. He was at a noisy, enthusiastic campaign event, and was shouting out of necessity. Normal campaign showmanship. One of the audio feeds was from a mic that picked up his voice but not the crowd noise, and it was that feed that CNN ran over and over, ignoring the content of what he was saying and making it look like Howard Dean was screaming like a crazy man. That’s bad reporting — irresponsible sensationalism as a substitute for serious journalism.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if Americans paid as much attention to the actual fucking policies of candidates as they do to superficial bullshit? Remember in 2015 and 2016 when MSNBC became the Trump Network, giving him a billion dollars’ worth of free publicity, with almost no investigative journalism? Almost no discussion of the vast policy differences between him and Sec. Clinton?
