    2012 expectancy from CIA website:

    Canada – still 10th
    USA – 50th (not 38th… sorry guys)

P.S. – another bonus – better beer!!!! and besides a few flops that we apologize for (beiber, celine dion, Nickelback), we’ve got a lot of hotties (Pam Anderson, Rachel McAdams, Carrie-Anne Moss, Anna Paquin, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Elisha Cuthbert) and funny people (Seth rogan, Dave Foley, Tom Green, Dan Aykroyd, Rick Moranis, Mike Myers, and the great Leslie Nielsen and John Candy). Come on and move up here. The hospital lines aren’t too bad. as liong as it is actually serious, you get seen faster – triage determines how severe when you get to the hospital. tell them you’re having trouble breathing (when all you did was cut your finger) and you’re in!!! lol

  2. Steven Doyle says:

The Iranian authorities remind me of John Ashcroft. True, he didn’t execute people for drinking, but he was firmly against funding rehab centers. Why? Because “it’s rewarding bad behavior”. (And because he’s a colossal sanctimonious prick.)

Uh… you guys know Costa Rica’s not an island, right? ’cause it kinda sounded like you said Costa Rica was an island.

    1. Murff says:

Maybe they thought he was fat enough to sink Central America, or at least a large portion of it…he Is quite large.

    2. diss0713 says:

I’ve been there before so yeah – we know. I think Tom was making a survivor joke – “voted off the island” and the way he said it made it sound like the place was an island.

  4. Micah G says:

Having lived there, Costa Rica is not an island, it is a small country in between Panama and Nicaragua. But Rush Limbaugh would still fuck it up regardless.

  5. Donna says:

While discussing the ACA Tom mentioned a piece he read comparing costs between heart patients in the US and a country with so-called socialized medicine. Can you please post a link to the article?

BTW, you seem surprised when you learn the age of some of your listeners. Or maybe you’re just surprised that anybody listens at all? Well, I am a 65 y-o woman and I love your podcast. Maybe it’s because your sense of humor is a lot like that of my two sons when they were teenagers. I always enjoyed being around teenagers. I’m also a fan of the Daily Show and Colbert. I guess what I’m saying is, don’t ever grow up.

    1. diss0713 says:

Actually that was Cecil. Here is the article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8426663.stm

  6. Julia says:

    Jenkem’s an urban legend, guys.

“We’ve haven’t found anything to substantiate the claim that youngsters in the U.S. are indulging in jenkem to the extent that it is now a “popular drug in American schools,” other than some vague statements from drug enforcement officials who assert the phenomenon is real because they’ve heard rumors about it.”

    1. diss0713 says:

Use in the states has been shown to be based off of faulty reporting and a hoax article. It was reported in both the BBC and National Geographic as a drug used by street kids in Zambia.

  7. Rikki_Tikki_Taalik says:

    From the podcast …

“I just think that the people who get worked up about this are getting increasingly strident and less rational.”

You see it everywhere now. Atheists, Gays, Obama, Evolution, Climate Change, Critical Thinking. Rage against anything that reminds them they can’t pretend the world is the way they wish it to be. For example the fictional “Ideal 50s” that never existed. They pretend it did, and only succeed in pretending because back then the “darkies” hid in fear, gays hid in fear, atheists hid in fear, but that’s not going to happen ever again. The cats out of the bag, genies out of the bottle, and you’re all out of wishes and the litter box is full. Sucks to be them I bet.
