I live in the benighted state of Georgia, where racist shitbag Brian Kemp is running for governor. Here’s something funny: he’s still the GA Secretary of State, meaning he’s the state’s top elections supervisor. Yes, he’ll be supervising the election he’s running in. Somehow, this is legal.
His opponent, Stacey Abrams, would be the nation’s first female black governor.
The attack ads that Kemp’s campaign is running against Abrams are virtually identical to ads being run in several other states against other Democrats; the all have basically the same simple-minded script.
But here’s something interesting: they’re no longer saying “So-and-so is too liberal for [our stupid state]”. They’re saying “So-and-so is too extreme for [our stupid state].” Maybe I’m wrong, but this suggests they’re no longer getting much traction using the word “liberal” as a pejorative.
